SlurryPro Pumps Solve Challenges in Mining Flotation Circuit

A major mining company dedicated to gold and silver extraction had two vertical pumps for repumping mining pulp into a flotation cell.

The pumps used to suffer constant shaft misalignment due to bearings breaking. In addition, the pumped fluid contains very thin particles which results in premature wear of the impeller and casing.

Because of this, the maintenance costs and downtime were key factors in the decision to introduce a new pump.

After talking with an Intrax partner, the pumps were replaced by four SlurryPro horizontal pumps mounted on two sliding skids. This allowed the user to open the pump casing without needing to handle any piping.

The new pumps also featured natural rubber liners which made them more suitable to the handling of fine abrasive particles.
